Principal Investigator:

Our team specializes in quantum engineering of light. We create new non-classical light sources for precision measurements, develop photonic quantum gates for long-range quantum communications, and use photons to simulate more sophisticated quantum systems. We also develop new technologies to make these experiments, and many others, possible.

  • Rydberg-Assisted Quantum Engineering of Light

We built an experimental platform to create and control strong coherent interactions between optical photons. By converting them into excitations of interacting atoms inside a specially shaped optical cavity, we tailor the structure of the interacting optical modes and deterministically engineer both the particle-like and the wave-like aspects of light at the quantum level.

  • Lensless Control and Imaging of Cold Atoms

In many hybrid quantum engineering setups, optical access is a scarce and precious resource.  By adapting techniques developed to control light in random media, we are developing an ultra-compact optical system for imaging and manipulating cold atoms reaching a 1µm resolution with a transverse size of only 225 µm.

  • Under the Hood

Physics and technology our experiments are based on.
